Ryanair: Products & Services

The website of Ryanair provides customers with an easy and efficient way to buy e-tickets, car rentals and book hotel rooms. The website has a very good layout and provides customers to book ticket in advance and on cheaper rates. The airline flies only one single category “Economy” in order to fly more passengers per flight. This type of flying arrangement is being used by more and more airlines to gain more revenues in an efficient manner. Ryanair is a leader in the low cost carrier sector and one can be considered as the pioneer of low cost flying.

Ryanair: Company Background

The airline was founded in 1985 by Irish businessman Christopher Ryan, Liam Lonergan and Tony Ryan. The company initially operated one airplane to ferry its customer from the England to Ireland. The airline now has 305 aircrafts and flies to 163 destinations. The airline is based at Dublin Airport, Ireland. The airline is one of the few airlines that are still in profit and uses a model that helps low cost carriers stay profitable. The model is being followed by a lot of low cost and full service airlines and is proving popular by the day.

Ryanair: Customer Feedback & Reviews

The airline seems to attract positive and negative criticism from its customers as Janet Harris writes “Went Stansted to Corfu, 01/11/2012, returned 05/11/2012. Could not fault them. Had my elderly mother with me and they could not have been more helpful. We were hand luggage only and had no problems with our cases. They didn't weigh them or measure them. Seat room was good, much better than Monarch who I flew with the previous week. Was apprehensive having read reviews but could not fault Ryanair.” Another J Meakin writes “:Will never fly Ryanair again. Our printed itinerary blatantly said we had paid for 1 suitcase for our outward then return journey (East Midlands - Krakow - East Midlands) at a rip off £25 each way, but because 'it didn't show on their system' we had to pay another £100 or lose it! After being made to wait at least 30 minutes, a Manager finally came out and agreed we had paid, but there was nothing she could do? When asked if we would get our money back off Ryanair, she just shrugged. So many people were complaining in the queue and to charge 3 euros for a cup of tea, no wonder no-one was buying anything. The air hostess was rude and aggressive - snatching money out of people's hands and barking orders at passengers - manners cost nothing? We fly regularly and use lots of different budget carriers from around the world and this was by far the worst airline!.”.

The airline needs to address these concerns and should make sure its customer and ground services improve so that it stays in profit.

Ryanair: Business Credibility & Trustworthiness

The company has risen from being a single plane operator to 305 planes. The airline is one of the few low cost carriers that operates in profits and has 8,332 employees serving customers daily. The airline being a low cost carrier does have its drawback such as lower quality of in flight services but can be considered as being credible and operating in the foreseeable future.

The airline uses the twitter account @RyanairOfficial and has 3,658 followers and has 5 tweets to its name. Apart from the twitter account the airline does not have any official presence on any other social media platforms. This platform provides company’s a chance to show case their services and build their brand image. The airline needs to get its social media presence in order to get more customers and a better brand image.
